Tuesday Morning Preschool Story Time

Tuesdays at 9:30 AM

Story Time will remain at 9:30am indefinitely. Now that Summer Reading programming is complete, the story time format will be expanded to include a snack and simple craft in addition to stories, songs and movement. Preschool aged kids are invited to bring their grown-ups for weekly fun.

 

Friday Morning Quilters

Moving to Wednesdays at 10:00 AM

The Library Quilting group will move to Wednesdays at 10am once school is back in session. Work will begin on the construction of the Summer Reading Bug quilt using the blocks illustrated by Library summer readers. Any one interesting in helping with the quilt construction is welcome. Call for additional information.

Bugs Read!
Celebrate your summer success with a big Bug Bash at Chester's Party Event Center on Saturday, August 2 at 10:00am. Enjoy bug themed games, prizes, snacks, songs and stories. Any one who participated in summer reading is invited, whether or not reading logs were completed!

We drew bug quilt squares and created a bug for our garden
July 8 Library Bug Hunt
We went on a bug scavenger hunt and enjoyed a fabulous caterpillar cake!
July 15 OKC Zoo presents a"Bug's Life"
We listened to a bug story, and pretended to be caterpillars and butterflies
July 22 Monty Harper
We rocked with Monty as he performed his Wacky, Witty, Way-out Bug Songs!

Metamorphasis (program for teens)

Teens Read!
Transmogrify yourself at the library this summer. Using the photo editing software available on the library computers, transform a photo of yourself, then add your photo to the Library’s teen web page.


Using your own video camera, create a short video about transformation, then transfer and edit your video on the library computers, and add it to the library’s teen web page.

  Gross Bugology! Another look at our friend the arthropod.
July 3 3:00 Photo Editing Workshop
  We took photos and practiced modifying them with Adobe PHoto Elements 6.
July 10 7:00 Murder in the Library
  We analyzed the clues and used our powers of deduction to solve the murder of the music librarian in the case of "Rock and Roll Over Dead"
July 24 2:00 Podcasting Workshop
  We learned to record and edit audio with Audacity software on the Library computers, and we learned how to post the audio file on the library web site, and create an RSS feed.
